The man tasked with creating a storyline for Crytek’s Crysis 2 has taken a swipe at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Sci-fi novellist Richard Morgan didn’t hold back when asked what he thought of the FPS competition at the Crysis reveal event in New York last week.

“I thought Modern Warfare 2 was an immense disappointment,” he told CVG.

“It was a massive stepdown from CoD4. What I thought when I played it was, ‘Jesus guys, what have you been doing? You’ve not ramped anything up. The story is worse and the game doesn’t really hang together, it’s just a bunch of mission levels.'”

Morgan went on to criticise the implausible plot and lack of resolution at the end of the game, adding “I just think they were way too impressed with themselves and that’s always a danger. It’s just unfortunate.”

We find it hard to disagree with Morgan here at IncGamers as the story in MW2 is undoubtedly the weakest aspect of the package. Let’s hope Morgan’s Crysis 2 script lives up to expectations.Check out the recent trailer for Crysis 2 here
