Creator of Papers, Please reveals his next project

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Lucas Pope,  the creator of the recent successful indie game Papers, Please has revealed that he is working on a brand new project called Return of the Obra Dinn. He announced this news via a post on the TIGF Forums and later on his Twitter account.

According to Pope, the game will be a “3D first-person mystery game set on an East Indiaman merchant ship in 1808.” As you can tell from the images, the game will feature a similar art style to Papers, Please and is inspired by Pope’s nostalgia for the Mac Plus.

Pope said that the game would not feature primary goals like Papers, Please did but he said he hopes the game will “capture a compelling mystery with suspense and twists in the limited space of an old merchant sailing ship,” he alo mentioned a “slightly cool gameplay hook” but we’re not sure what that is yet.

No release date was announced but for more updates you can follow Pope on Twitter.
