Creative Assembly counts down to new Total War reveal. Total War: Warhammer 2?

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Creative Assembly has decided they want to reveal something next week, and most signs point towards Total War: Warhammer 2. The second game in the proposed trilogy of Warhammer titles.

The Total War website is currently ticking down to something, over a backdrop that either looks like Lustria (home of Warhammer’s Lizardmen) or some kind of Mayan/Aztec location. Creative Assembly are working on a pair of new Total War games; back in December they revealed the next game in the Warhammer trilogy was well into development. They have also revealed work is underway on a new historical Total War game, set in an era the studio have no previously explored.

Based on the fact that one title (the second Warhammer) is apparently much further along in development than the next historical piece, it seems likely that the imagery is referring to Lizardmen rather than South America. If that is the case, then the reveal will be Total War: Warhammer 2 and not the new historical game.

The second title is largely expected to cover the continents of Lustria, Naggaroth and Ulthuan. That would introduce Lizardmen, Skaven (probably, they hang out in Lustria a bit), Dark Elves, and High Elves as new races.

Keep an eye out for more news on this next Friday.
