Commad & Conquer: General 2Â will, despite being free-to-play, include a single single player mode.
The inclusion of solo play was confirmed by EA Labels president Frank Gibeau, who said that the idea with the free-to-play angle is to respond to what your audience wants.
“The beauty of free-to-play, is that we can adjust and adapt to what we’re hearing,” said Gibeau. “It’s a very different model because you don’t have to build as much. You build in response to your audience.”
Presently there’s no word on how the game will be monetised. Microtransactions will surely be included, but their form and function and not yet known.
Whatever the outcome, the confirmation of a single player mode provides some hope as to the game’s validity as a ‘proper’Â C&CÂ game.
