Much to the dismay of anyone looking forward to the new Command & Conquer, the game was shelved by EA on 29 October.
The future of the franchise didn’t look bright with comments from a CM a few days later saying that the franchise was “unlikely to resume any time soon” and what sounded like internal EA politics hampering production of  the game at Victory Games with a Victory employee stating that the press release announcing the cancellation was “total b.s”.
On the EA support forums they added a post outlining the procedure for anyone wanting a refund of any money spent in the recent Alpha test and refunds for anyone who purchased The Ultimate Collection to gain beta access. The update also indicates that the project is being moved to a new studio and production of Command & Conquer will resume at some point.
Over the next 10 days we will be refunding any and all money spent in the alpha. If, after November 8, 2013, you still have not received refunds for your purchases, you should contact a game advisor and we will be happy to assist you.
For those of you who bought The C&C Ultimate Collection, your early access to the beta will be honored once production of this title resumes under a new studio.
We would like to thank you for your time and interest in Command & Conquer, and we look forward to sharing the news with you when production resumes on this title in the future.
It would be real shame to see the franchise bow out as the Victory Games version looked like it was heading in the right direction.
Stay tuned for more on news on this, I’m sure this latest update from EA won’t be the last we hear about a Command & Conquer reboot.
Thanks CNCNZ.
