When the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta launched, players were able to try out some of the maps. One of the maps in the beta rotation was Cartel. The map is playable in both 6v6 and 12v12 game modes. Ever since the beta, fans have been discontent with the level of visibility across the very middle of the map. However, a new bug has emerged which fixes some of the complaints surrounding Cartel — it removes the grass.
Fans have complained about the long grass which blocks your visibility, causing players to die. In addition, this can be quite frustrating as enemy players can hide within the grass and get an easy kill. Moreover, the grass makes it tough to spot a speeding RC-XD car as it zips across the playing field. A Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War player shared screenshots of the Cartel bug on Reddit. As you can see from the image below, the absence of the grass makes the map appear more open. Consequently, you can see the center of the map with ease.
Which version of Cartel do you prefer?
The response to the bug has somewhat been positive. Many players in the aforementioned Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Reddit thread have commented that the bugged version is actually better than the original. It is unknown how long this bug has been present in the game. Many fans have stated that they have experienced this bug quite early in the game. Although, with more images of the bug emerging, it appears that it is becoming more frequent.
With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fans preferring the bugged version of Cartel, it will be interesting to see if the bug gets patched. So far, Treyarch has been quick to respond to various bug fixes and weapon tuning. Perhaps, we will find out sooner or later what the decision will be.
How Cartel should be.
