The Koskelas have an unconventional way of keeping lock combinations, so this one requires some diligent thinking. Here’s how to solve this puzzle.

Alan Wake 2: Coffee World Gift Shop safe code

If you check out the safe, there’s a paper on top that explains how to figure out the code. It’s still a little confusing, as it doesn’t outright tell you what the numbers are. How you unlock the Coffee World Gift Shop safe in Alan Wake 2 is by correlating the safe numbers with the employee jobs on the chalkboard.

Using this method, you’ll soon realize that the Gift Shop safe code is 146. But how did I figure that out? Well, on the paper, Ilmo says the code is Tracker, Lookout, Cleaner. At first, this sounds like gibberish. But once you explore more of the shop, you’ll soon connect it to the employee’s jobs on the chalkboard.

It’s still not as easy as that. Each word Ilmo uses doesn’t match the employee’s job titles. Instead, you have to infer what the job titles are based on how Ilmo phrased them. Tracker is Lost and Found, Lookout is Security, and Cleaner is Janitor.

I figured out Janitor easily, since we all know Janitors clean. But Tracker and Lookout took some trial-and-error. I had a feeling Tracker was either Lost and Found or Security. Lookout was the tougher one, because my first instinct was Park Walkaround. Since they walk around the park, they’d be looking out, right?

But then after some consideration, Security made a lot more sense. Each position of the employee pictures match with the numbers on the safe, so I figured it was 146, which was correct!
