Codemasters commits solely to racing titles

This article is over 12 years old and may contain outdated information

Codemasters has taken the decision to speed away from all other genres except racing and will henceforth be known as Codemaster Racing. The forthcoming F1 2012 and Dirt Showdown games will both be released under this new company title.
This move follows unsuccessful attempts to revive the Operation Flashpoint series with Red River, and the closure of the internal Codemasters studio responsible for the FPS Bodycount.
“Best-in-class racing games is now our razor focus going forward” says Codemasters communication chief Rich Eddy. Sadly, he didn’t expand on what ‘razor focus’ might mean in English.
In conjunction with the name change, Codemasters Racing will be launching ‘Racenet’; a free online community hub that will titles in the F1, Dirt and Grid series’. Players will have to sign up for a ‘Driver Profile’ that’ll work across all future Codemasters Racing titles.
