COD Map Packs Sell Over 20 Million Copies

Activision has confirmed Call of Duty map packs have exceeded 20 million sales.
The Call of Duty series has seen six map packs available to download through Xbox LIVE, PSN or PC for three different games.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare received one pack, while World at War launched three separate packs. Finally the latest release of Modern Warfare 2 has seen two map packs released, with the Resurgence Pack being the latest addtion.
“The Call of Duty franchise is unique in the world of entertainment and delivers one of the best multiplayer experiences ever,” said CEO of Activision Blizzard, Bobby Kotick.
He added, “We are thrilled to deliver to fans exciting and engaging content that has the intensity they have come to expect from the franchise.”
If you think about it 20 million sales multiplied by the price of a map pack equals very rich Activision employees. You have to wonder with this much revenue why Kotick would want to make more money by bringing a subscription-based online Call Of Duty world.
Those numbers can be expected to grow in the coming months especially as Activision ramps up the promotion of the next COD title, Call of Duty: Black Ops which will launch on 9 November.
