Climax Developed Prince of Persia Prototype Surfaced

Just yesterday some new screenshots for an unannounced game from Climax simply titled ‘character action game’. Some gamers quickly noticed that the game seemed reminiscent of the Prince of Persia series, and today Climax confirmed the accuracy of those suspicions.

As it turns out, just last year Climax were in talks with Ubisoft about developing a new Prince of Persia game that would seemingly be more akin to the originals than the series reboot from 2008. Climax got to work on an early prototype to show Ubisoft their vision for the game, hence the screenshots we were treated to. However development never went beyond this prototype phase unfortunately and will likely not be continued.

It seems that fans of the series are going to have to keep on hoping to see another entry in the franchise. Work had actually began on another version of the game at Ubisoft last year too, as a project titled ‘Osiris’ surfaced. However Ubisoft Montreal boss Yannis Mallat stated that the Prince of Persia series had been put on Hiatus shortly after the project surfaced.
