In a new interview with PC Invasion (which you can read in full here,) Chris Avellone has confirmed that he’ll be sticking around in the games industry after a surprise departure from Obsidian.

Though he didn’t specifically wish to discuss concrete plans or the reasons for leaving the company he co-founded, when asked whether people can expect more games from him, Avellone said: “I don’t think I could ever stop being a game designer, that’s just where my brain is going to be at until I’m in the coffin.”

For those who may have been concerned that Chris Avellone would be departing the games industry entirely, this should come as a relief.

At present, says he’s enjoying the work he’s doing on Torment: Tides of Numenera. As for what lies beyond that, however:

“The future beyond [Tides of Numenera] … I guess there’s a lot of gleams in people’s eyes for these really cool ideas they would like to bring to the game arena and those ideas are pretty awesome. So I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes and hopefully being a part of that.”

People have speculated whether that future may include some sort of Kickstarter campaign, but when asked about the crowd-funding avenue Avellone told us “I’m going to hold off on answering that for now.”
