Black Stalker final boss fight
The Black Stalker is the final boss in Chernobylite. The HUD tells you that this is just phase one of the boss fight.
Anyway, the Black Stalker finally admits that he’s not Boris. Rather, he’s the real Igor Khmynyuk, hence why he’s been trying to reunite with Tatyana all along. So, who’s the character you’ve been controlling the entire time?
Apparently, he’s none other than the child that Tatyana was carrying before she was abducted. Your character is just a clone of Igor with a few memories transplanted and muddled, which is why you’ve only returned to Chernobyl 30 years after the disaster in the power plant.
But, the time for talk is over. The Black Stalker/Igor challenges you and the battle begins. The Black Stalker will be on the right-hand side of the lab. You’ll see three portals here where he’ll pop up periodically. Whenever he reappears, he’ll fire his weapon (which can deal a load of damage while also irradiating you).
Eventually, you’ll notice portals that appear on the ground. This is also another spot where the Black Stalker can spawn from. Rather than shooting you, he’ll just do an AoE fist slam. Oh, and you might see a few Shadows running toward you every now and then, so make sure you take them out quickly.
After dropping the Black Stalker’s health bar to zero, you’ll reach phase two of the boss fight (which isn’t necessarily combat-intensive). You’ll materialize inside the Fractal World (i.e., wormhole dimension) and the Black Stalker will walk towards you. Once he grabs (clone) Igor, the two will fall down a ledge.
Then, Olivier will appear and give you the portal gun. He says that he’s from an alternate timeline and he’s just here to help you out.
You’ll be back inside the lab, a vision of Tatyana watching the Black Stalker, her husband, slowly dying. It looks like you really hurt him during the first phase of the battle.
This will present choices that will determine the campaign’s conclusion. You can head to the next part of our Chernobylite endings and epilogues guide to learn more.
