Cryptic Studios has revealed a “summer spectacular” for superhero MMORPG Champions Online.
Included will be a variety of promotions including a brand new free trial, discounts in the costume store and a celebration of the anniversary of Champions Online.
Firstly to celebrate the first anniversary of the game a special show in Millennium City will be running from 27 August to 7 September entitled The Millennium City Anniversary Celebration. Special party contacts will be located around a giant cake in Renaissance Center with characters able to receive special gifts once a day. These gifts will reward players with random party favours.
Cryptic has also revealed enemies in all of the major zones throughout the game will have a chance to drop the anniversary gifts when they are defeated by your hero.
A brand new trail for new and returning players will also be available from 1 September through to the 7 September allowing players to experience the whole of Champions Online for free. Cryptic has said no retail keys or subscriptions will be needed and everyone will be able to try the whole game rather than the limited demo trial that has previously been available. To help players set up for this trial you will be able to start downloading the client and patches from 27 August.
Finally for the first week of September there will be a 20% discount for every item inside the C-Store. The only exception is the brand new tights set but players can head over to the C-Store to start planning what they will be purchasing with the brand new discounts.
We were rather impressed with the first twenty levels of the superhero MMO check out our review here.
