It’ll be based on the original and is fully licensed and endorsed by the creators, so we can expect a pretty intense game when it finally does make its way over to our shelves.

Bohemia Interactive CEO, Marek Spanel:
“For us, Carrier Command was not only one of the most innovative games we had ever played but it is also one of the very few games that truly influenced our gaming tastes and motivated us in our own home grown game development, which later materialised in the form of Operation Flashpoint, with similar open ended gameplay and emphasis on a deeply simulated game world.”

Otakar Nieder, project leader at Black Element Software said  that this was a  “great honour” working with a “legendary title” and that they are sure they’ll do it justice on the next-gen platforms.

The story is based on the second novel of the Gaea trilogy and follows the crew of a ship waking after 30 years of hibernation into the middle of a war in another solar system.

More information will be released next week at Leipzig.  But for now, why not try reading the book?
