Carmageddon: Reincarnation

After raising just over $600,000 USD with a successful Kickstarter campaign for Carmageddon: Reincarnation, Stainless Games have apparently been cruising ruthlessly around their own shareholders and threatening to run them over if they don’t contribute some cash to the pile. It seems to have worked, because now the pot of gold stands at $3.5 million USD.

“We are delighted to have fully funded Carmageddon: Reincarnation without having to go outside of the collective of our own company, shareholders and fans. It allows us to maintain a true independence and creative control whilst not having to compromise quality or content by budgetary constraints,” says Stainless co-founder Patrick Buckland, while mashing the horn and gunning the accelerator.

The major funding partner in this venture appears to be Les Edgar, a founder of Bullfrog Productions (think Theme Park, Syndicate and Peter Molyneux) and shareholder at Stainless.

With this much money secured, the developer says it can now “deliver exactly what Carmageddon is all about.” For the latest on how development is going, head over to the team’s dev blog.
