Capcom has released a load of new Dead Rising 2 info.As we knew, players will take on the role of Motocross champ Chuck Greene, but what we didn’t know is that he’s gone to “gambling paradise” Fortune City to compete in the “Terror is Reality” gameshow – a show in which contestants have to survive for as long as they can in zombie-filled environments to win cash.Chuck’s in this because of his daughter, Katey, who was bitten by a zombie and now needs daily doses of the prohibitively expensive Zombrex drug to suppress the infection. It’s up to Chuck to survive for 72 hours, rescue other survivors, unravel the conspiracy behind the outbreak, and find Zombrex to stop Katey from turning into a flesh-eating monstrosity.Players won’t need to go it alone, though, with two player online co-op available. Using the in-game tranceiver lets players summon a pal to help them survive the zombie apocalypse. And then there’s what we already knew: the ability to combine weapons. Killing zombies with these contraptions results in a greater Prestige Point boost, replacing the first game’s camera as primary method of gaining experience, and there are some fun-looking devices in the game. There’s the Portamower, created by combining a piece of wood and a lawnmower to make a hand-held flesh-stripper, while a garden rake and a car battery can create an electrified zombie prod.Xbox 360 owners will get their first taste of the game before its launch in early September with the Case ZERO prologue, which takes place two years after the first game and three years before the second, bridging the gap between the two. Case ZERO sees Chuck and Katey caught in the desert town of Still Creek, fighting for their lives against the zombie horde. Expect psychos, weapon combinations, survivors, and everything else that makes Dead Rising unique.Dead Rising 2 is due out in Europe on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on 3 September. Stay tuned for pics and videos.
