Last week it emerged that PS3 copies of Resident Evil 6 were being sold in Poland, well ahead of the official October release date for the game. Capcom has stated that it has launched a “thorough investigation” into the incident to find out what exactly has been going on.

The publisher believes them to be stolen copies of the game. “It would appear this unfortunate incident is limited to a small quantity of stolen copies of the German USK PlayStation 3 version of the game,” Capcom revealed in a statement.

Legitimate copies of Resident Evil 6 should go on sale in Europe on 2 October. The title is coming to Xbox 360 and PC, as well as the PS3.
