Marvels Midnight Suns Steam Deck Performance

Can you run Marvel’s Midnight Suns on Steam Deck?

Take your heroes on the go.

When you have a Steam Deck it’s hard to not try out every game you own on the device. Unfortunately, some games still aren’t quite compatible with Valve’s handheld system. But that number gets lower as time goes on. As for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, the answer about whether it can run on a Steam Deck is luckily easy to answer.

2K Games has officially confirmed that Marvel’s Midnight Suns is Steam Deck Verified. So you should have no problems running the game on the device. The game’s Steam page also notes the features that Marvel’s Midnight Suns supports on the Steam Deck. It states that all “functionality is accessible when using the default controller configuration.” It also says the game’s text is legible, and it shows the Steam Deck’s controller icons.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns performance on the Steam Deck

As far as performance goes, that’s a slightly different matter. A review of the experience from Steam Deck HQ shows that the game is best with its graphics settings set to medium. Unfortunately, the Steam Deck can’t handle 60 fps here. But 30 fps is where you’ll want to stay with most recent games on Steam Deck anyway. There may be times when the frame rate dips below that, but it should be manageable.

Since Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a turn-based tactics game, you won’t need very high frame rates. This isn’t a game that demands quick reaction speed. Obviously, it’d be nice if the Steam Deck could manage 60 fps in Midnight Suns, but this is the best we have for now.

Luckily the game’s PC port offers plenty of control over graphical settings. So if you want to further conserve the Steam Deck’s battery, feel free to turn down some settings. The medium preset is the best balance of visuals and performance, but dropping a few options could buy you some more time.
