In Dragon’s Dogma 2, many characters can be swooned and romanced. Some players may wonder whether this extends to their Pawn, a person of their own making?
Can Pawns be romanced in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Unfortunately, you cannot romance your Pawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Don’t forget that the Pawns, although they resemble normal people, are immortal beings whose sole purpose is to aid the Arisen.
Although they made an emotional jump from the first Dragon’s Dogma, they still seem to lack deep emotion and aren’t wired the same as mortals or the Arisen.
Also, you physically can’t give them gifts or help them out – they have no affection meter. Or at least they did, it would be maxed out already, considering they’re committed to helping you. In this case, it’s strictly platonic.
Technically, this isn’t an object fact just yet, as the game has only recently launched and is incredibly deep and vast. Perhaps there is some way to romance your Pawn, but no one has found it yet and it’s not looking likely that someone will, pending some update that allows for it, which has thus far not been announced.
Players asked this question even of the original Dragon’s Dogma. It seems many are after the affections of the being they manifested. A little creepy! Some have even made their Pawn attractive to them for that very reason, but it’s not to be.
Can you romance anyone in Dragon’s Dogma 2?
This information may spur another thought, “who can be romanced, then?”
Every single NPC has an affinity meter, although not all NPCs can be romanced. You can check the NPC log in the History menu to see every single NPC’s likes and dislikes, and gift appropriately to raise the affinity.
But maxing out someone’s affinity does not mean they’ll be a candidate for romance.
Main characters, and other support characters, may be available to be romanced through completing their quests and giving them gifts. So if you want to win someone’s heart, make sure to visit frequently to see if there’s anything you can do for them, and to give them something they’ll like.
The sex and race of the NPC and your Arisen do not matter – there is no preference in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so you won’t miss out on anything, unlike in other titles, like Cyberpunk 2077.
There are many other candidates for romance, however, such as Ulrika, so maybe you should look to a mortal for company, instead.
