When you create a character in video games, you may realize later on that you don’t enjoy the playstyle you chose. While playing Baldur’s Gate 3, you may realize the same thing and yearn to change their class. Typically, in Dungeons & Dragons, it’s not very common for your character to completely change classes. But what about in Larian Studios’ video game D&D RPG? If you want an answer to whether or not you can respec your character in Baldur’s Gate 3, keep reading.
Can you respec your class in Baldur’s Gate 3?
We have good news! The answer to if you can respec your character in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a definite yes. We learned more about this from the Panel from Hell Release Showcase. During the livestream, Lead Systems Designer Nick Pechenin stated this on why respecing is allowed: “We wanted to avoid players having to restart the whole game, because it’s a very heavy narrative experience.”
Baldur’s Gate 3 is planning to be a pretty lengthy game, so being able to respec makes a lot of sense. Roleplay wise, it may be strange, but you can decide why your character may have chosen to swap classes.
Now that you know you can respec, how exactly can you do it? Well, Pechenin had more to say on this during the livestream: “There’s a character you might meet—you will most likely meet—that will allow you reset your class, and reinvest all of the levels.”
Basically, you won’t be able to respec right away, but it probably won’t take long to unlock. Keep a look out for our guides on how to do so once the game fully releases. Speaking of classes though, they also confirmed that multiclassing is available. So even if you chose the wrong multiclass, you’ll be able to easily change your mind.
