With the imminent release of Nintendo’s latest Zelda game, everyone is anticipating getting their hands on it. Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to Breath of the Wild, which released alongside the Nintendo Switch back in 2017. Now that Zelda fans have been waiting six years, the hype and anticipation is at a boiling point. But what about for video game fans who only have a PC? We have an answer to if you can play Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on PC.
Is Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom playable on PC?
The answer to this question is a complicated one. No, none of Nintendo’s mainline games are available to purchase on anything besides their own consoles. But yes, there are other less-legitimate ways to play Tears of the Kingdom on your PC. Although it isn’t official, PC players have discovered ways to emulate games from other consoles.
They can even apparently run Tears of the Kingdom in 4K/60fps if you have a higher-end PC. Sadly, we know this because the game has already leaked online. Nintendo and their die-hard fans are sticklers about spoilers—as am I—so it’s fair to say that these emulations are probably on Nintendo’s radar for takedown. Avoid as many spoilers as you can!
But of course, the best way to play Tears of the Kingdom is on your Switch. We are not supportive of piracy, especially before a game has even released. Emulators can also be buggy, and may lead to viruses. So for your best possible experience, purchase and enjoy the latest Zelda game on your Switch.
And if you don’t have one, what are you waiting for?! We encourage you to get one and play Breath of the Wild in preparation for playing its sequel. Now you know the answer to if you can play Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on PC, and can prepare for the release of this exciting game.
