Is there a single-player mode in Helldivers 2?

Now that the Helldivers 2 game is out for all players to enjoy and experience, many are wondering whether it’s exclusively co-op or if it features some type of single-player experience such as a dedicated mode or even a single-player campaign. The answer is not as simple as you might expect. You see, while the focus of the game is certainly partnering up with your friends or other online players, every Helldivers 2 player can decide to solo the game if they are up to the challenge.

This means that there is no single-player mode or a campaign for players to tackle. If you want to play on your own and experience the game at your own pace, you will have to play through the same content you would play if you were with a party with other players. It might be possible for a single player to complete every single challenge and difficulty – and believe me, we will see a lot of video guides on how to do it – but the truth is that the devs designed the game with a co-op aspect in mind, cross-play included.

I would suggest trying to experience the game with some friends. Matchmaking is a coin flip in the sense that you can get strangers who may carry the team or slow it down. However, if you feel like Leonidas and the 300 and truly believe you can tackle defending Super Earth on your own, then go ahead and do so with courage and, of course, strategy.
