If you have opted out of playing Cocoon on Game Pass because you want to play it on Steam Deck, I don’t blame you. In fact, I did the same exact thing. While I haven’t had it for very long, I have logged enough time into Cocoon on Steam Deck to tell you how it runs. Here’s if you can play Cocoon on Steam Deck.

Does Cocoon work on Steam Deck?
After putting some time into Cocoon on Steam Deck, I can comfortably say it runs pretty well! Right now, the status of Cocoon’s playability on Steam Deck is labeled unknown. Once Cocoon is officially released, I could see the Steam Deck Compatibility changing from unknown to playable.
The only issues I’ve run into so far when playing Cocoon on Steam Deck are some few and far between but big frame rate drops. This happens usually when you’re loading into a new area. The first time my character jumped out of the scene and into another, my game basically froze and just loaded a few seconds later with my character in the new scene.
These issues will likely be fixed in patch notes, but I’m not sure if those patch notes are coming on day one. I wasn’t made known about when patch notes are coming to Cocoon or what the patch notes aim to fix, so keep your eyes peeled for that. In the email I got that gave me my early Cocoon code, it said, “This build is not yet ready for Steam Deck.”
I disagree and think Cocoon runs really well on Steam Deck besides some frame rate problems when loading into new areas. Besides that, the Steam Deck is a great place to play Cocoon. It’s a cozy indie puzzle game, the kind I love to play handheld on the couch instead of with a controller at my work desk on my PC.
