Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is still quite early in its life cycle, but that hasn’t stopped fans from looking ahead to the next title. For some months now, Call of Duty fans have been speculating at what will be released in 2021. Previously, rumors suggested that the new title would be based in the World War II era. Now, further information surrounding the upcoming title appears to confirm this. The leak also hints towards Sledgehammer Games being the developer of the next title.
According to the Call of Duty leaks and news page, ModernWarzone, the upcoming title will reportedly be Call of Duty: WWII Vanguard. This could be a code name which means that it could change at any time between now and its release. However, it does seem to confirm that players will be taken back to World War II.
Who would make Call of Duty: WWII Vanguard?
In addition, the leak may also confirm the speculation around who is developing the next title in the franchise. Sledgehammer Games lended a helping hand to both Infinity Ward in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 and to Treyarch in Black Ops Cold War. The last title Sledgehammer Games released independently was Call of Duty: WWII in 2017. It is unknown if the alleged upcoming release of Call of Duty: WWII Vanguard will be a direct sequel.
As always, leaked information surrounding a new Call of Duty title should be taken lightly. Until there is confirmation from Activision, fans will have to continue to speculate at what will be the next addition to the franchise. With each title, there has been a mixed response from Call of Duty fans. While many players enjoyed Call of Duty: WWII, it did have its critics. It has been nearly four years since the team’s last title. Hopefully the extra time has allowed the developers to create a Call of Duty that players will thoroughly enjoy.
