Call of Duty: Warzone recon drones have more than one purpose

The possibilities are endless!
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Recon drones are not a popular piece of equipment in Call of Duty: Warzone and multiplayer. Their primary purpose is to mark enemy targets from above. Once marked, everyone on your team can see where the enemies are lurking. However, recon drones have a secondary purpose which may prove to be more useful in your matches.

Before you take flight in the recon drone, you are able to place other pieces of equipment on top of it. So far, players have been placing explosive equipment on top of recon drones such as C4. Then, you are able to drive your dangerous drone towards an enemy team. This useful tactic allows you to damage enemies from above and at range. Ultimately, this can prove to be game changing, following the recent C4 nerf.

However, the recon drone is also capable of taking on a support role. It has been discovered that the recon drone can act as a supply drop. Crucial Warzone supplies, such as armor and munitions boxes, can be placed on the drones. So if your teammate is at a distance and needs some more ammo and plates, you can easily drop them off. Also, a trophy system can be placed on a recon drone, which will defend you and your team from incoming explosives from all angles.

Will the recon drone become meta in Call of Duty: Warzone?

It is important to note that you are limited to placing just one piece of equipment on the recon drones. Currently, it is unknown if this feature is intentional or not. It will be interesting to see if Infinity Ward responds in a future patch update. When dropping into Verdansk, make sure to be on the lookout for recon drones hovering in the sky. Perhaps, the recon drone will become the most underrated pieces of equipment as more possibilities are unlocked.
