The best Call of Duty: Vanguard MG42 light machine gun class

Just keep spraying.

The highly anticipated launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard introduced a single player campaign, a new multiplayer experience, and the continuation of the dark aether story in Zombies. It’s no secret that light machine guns pack a punch across all of these Call of Duty modes. It appears that Vanguard is no different here, and there’s a range of them to choose from. The MG42 returns, and you can create a powerful MG42 light machine gun class in Vanguard by equipping the best attachments.

The MG42 thrives specifically at medium and long ranges. The multiplayer maps that work best with this weapon include the likes of Oasis, and Desert Siege. Aside from range, the base MG42 has some other valuable qualities. It has a respectable amount of speed which is not usually seen in this weapon category. In addition, the amount of ammunition you have at your disposal will allow you to take out numerous enemies in just one clip. This class will focus on making your light machine gun more accurate, as well as maximising its firepower to really make a statement on the battlefield.

Call of Duty: Vanguard MG42 class

  • Muzzle: Mercury Silencer
  • Barrel: Krausnick 450mm B42MG
  • Stock: Krausnick S91MG
  • Rear Grip: Stippled Grip
  • Underbarrel: M1930 Strife Angled
  • Magazine: 13mm Anti-Material 125 Round Drums
  • Proficiency: Frenzy
  • Kit: On-hand
  • Optic: Slate Reflector

The first attachment to use on your light machine gun is the Mercury Silencer. Apart from providing your weapon with sound suppression, you will also gain some extra recoil control. Another valuable attachment is the Krausnick 450mm B42MG Barrel. It is highly accurate and controllable, with added bullet velocity and range. Pairing this with the Krausnick S91MG Stock will significantly increase your vertical recoil control, while boosting your aim down sight speed.

Next, equipping the Stippled Grip will see you experience more recoil recovery and initial recoil control, ensuring you can lock onto an opponent as soon as you begin firing. Then, the M1930 Strife Angled Underbarrel will make the weapon even more accurate when you are lining up your shots, with improved aiming stability and aim walking steadiness.

Ammunition that deals more damage

In terms of a magazine, the 13mm Anti-Material 125 Round Drums is a strong option. Not only does it boost you weapon’s damage, but adds bullet penetration, bullet velocity, and range too. Ultimately, this will make your bullets deadly against any enemy that crosses your path. As this magazine is so powerful, it blocks your ability to use an Ammo Type on your MG42. However, it is definitely worth losing the extra attachment slot for.

For Proficiencies, Frenzy is a viable option as it will see you instantly heal after earning a kill, meaning you will be able to get back into the action much faster. Also, the On-hand Kit provides you with equipment dexterity, so your downtime after using any equipment is reduced. Finally, to complete your Vanguard MG42 class, the Slate Reflector Optic is precise and enables you to take advantage of the light machine gun’s improved accuracy.
