Call of Duty The Haunting roadmap: New maps, LTMs, skins, and more

Even the most trained army people can get scared.

The season of Halloween is returning across the world of Call of Duty with The Haunting event planned in late October. Activision has released a roadmap for the event that will introduce Operators for Warzone 2, drastic changes with maps, and a few modes across Warzone, DMZ, and MW2. Each event will have something to earn like weapons through the Battle Pass, so it could be worth your time going through the spookiness offered in the game. Below I’ll go over the scary roadmap of The Haunting, including things like new maps, ltms, skins, and more for Call of Duty. This way you can prepare yourself better for the horrors that await you.

The Haunting roadmap for Call of Duty revealed

There’s going to be a lot going on during the event that starts on the 17th of October. The first and most noticeable change is the Warzone 2 map of Al Mazrah. Commencing Operation Nightmare, you and your squad can explore the map at night. That’s not all, there will be mini-bosses that appear in specific spots like the Marshland and Parted Seas. Prepare yourself before going into these areas, it’s not for the easily scared.

The horror of DMZ

Vondle will also be changed to fit the terrifying themes of Halloween. Not only will you bear witness to the weather change, but you’ll also have to deal with new enemies. In Zombie Royal, you and your team will have to fight on Vondel, not against just other players — but also zombies. The kicker, when you die, the Gulag won’t respawn you, instead, you’ll come back as the living dead with some powerful abilities. However, if you die as a zombie, that’s when the match ends for you. So the premise of this limited-time mode is to beat zombies and other teams.

In both Al Mazrah and Vondle, you can come across Haunted Boxes that have Halloween-themed variants of normal items like ammo and plates. So it’s best to keep an eye out for them.

MW2’s Nightmare

Warzone and DMZ are both going to be filled with spooky stuff, but if you’re playing MW2, you can’t escape the terror either. Both El Asila and Embassy will also see fear taking over them. El Aslia looks like it is celebrating Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead), and Embassy will have a zombie attack.

On top of that MW2 will also see a new Gunfight map in Las Almas. While not scary, having a new map is always a good thing. Additionally, the classic Koro Village which was originally called Toujane in the older MW2 game comes back as a Gun Fight map.

Modes like Kill Confirmed, Grind, Drop Zone, Domination, and Infect have all been changed for the season as well.

  • Domination – A lot is the same but instead of a flag marking the spot, it’ll be a scarecrow.
  • Kill Confirmed/Grind – For these two modes, you’ll be hit with jump scares. But rather than picking up the fallen dog tags, you’ll collect skulls.
  • Drop Zone – Holding down the point and earning points is important, however, be careful this time around. The boxes may hurt you as well as you open them.
  • Infected – Rather than being infected, it looks like players will become zombies just like the ones in Warzone. Meaning, you’ll have abilities when you are one.

Weapons of the Unliving

You can expand your arsenal with three new weapons that are dropping for the event. Note each weapon can be earned by leveling up the Battle Pass.

  • TR-76 Geist Assult Rifle – With this highly adaptable assault rifle, you can create it to do whatever you want from it. Seems to be the best weapon to defend yourself against the zombie hoards.

  • ISO – 9mm SMG – To survive the night, you can’t get caught. This SMG is great for running and gunning. However, keep a distance because this weapon fails at long range.

  • Dual Kamas – Kamas that can slice through any zombie or enemy at close range. If you choose to play this way — you’re stronger than most.

  • Doom Chainsaw – Just like Doom Guy who made the monsters of Hell shake in their boots, you can do the same with this iconic melee weapon.

New heroes join the fray

As mentioned, for The Haunting there will be new Operators. Two can be earned via Battle Pass, and one can through buying Black Cell

  • Al Simmons – An assassin out for revenge. After being sent to Hell and back, it looks like he might become a popular operator to play for the season.
  • Spawn – The iconic comic anti-hero makes his debut for the festivities of Halloween. Al Simmons takes on a new life as Spawn and looks like he can be the coolest Operator in the game so far. You can earn him by leveling the Battle Pass to 100 and doing all 20 Sector missions in the Battle Pass
  • V4L3RIA – Upon buying the Black Cell, you’ll earn this new operator who has transparent skin. It also looks like it operates like a Terminator.

Spooky Skins

Maps and modes are great, but skins are just as scary as the rest of the event. They are:

Additionally, you can also buy Inaruis and Lilith from the Diablo series as operators from the store.

On top of borrowing from other Blizzard Entertainment properties, you can buy Skeletor, Ash, and Alucurd from the store as well.
