As we already know, the Call of Duty train does not stop even with the current release. As players are spending time with Modern Warfare 3, we’re getting some whispers on the next release of Call of Duty.
That’s right, MW3 isn’t even a month old and there’s news on the next release. So let’s run through the next Call of Duty game coming…next year.
The next Cod is rumored to be a new non-remaster game
For the first time since Call of Duty: Vanguard in 2021, we may see the first release that isn’t a remaster. According to reports, the next Call of Duty may be an entry in the fan-loved Black Ops series set during the Gulf War. While we don’t know if it’ll be in the Gulf War, the rumors seem to be suggesting a return to Black Ops. These are just rumors, of course, so take this all with a grain of salt.

If you’ve played any of the Cold War games, you can probably see a pattern. A focus on the CIA rather than the military proper, and Black Ops games are usually set during the Cold War or in Vietnam. If the pattern holds, then the Gulf War could be the next setting.
It also seems like this might be a Call of Duty with one of the series’ longest production cycles. This is a welcoming feat, as reports have come out that state MW3 took significantly less time, and it shows. So we may get a fully polished and new game for the first time since the first Modern Warfare remaster.
Apart from that, we don’t know much other than its release window which could be in the fall or winter of 2024. As you can expect, with Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6 might change Warzone, DMZ, and Zombies. Meaning next year’s Call of Duty will feel much different than it has been over the last few years.
