Brenda Braithwaite and Tom Hall have called a temporary halt to their project to raise money for an ‘old school RPG’ title. The pair’s original pitch for $1 million USD was ticking over at around $250,000 with a couple of weeks left to run, but over the weekend the decision was taken to cancel the Kickstarter campaign, refund all pledges and have a re-think about the game.
In an update posted on the campaign page, the team writes:
“Ultimately, our pitch just wasn’t strong enough to get the traction we felt it needed to thrive. Sure, it may have made it. We could have fought our way to a possibly successful end. In reading your feedback and talking it over internally, however, we decided that it made more sense to kill it and come back with something stronger.”
The immediate comments below the statement seem broadly supportive, with most backers hoping to see the project return in a more compelling form. Given Braithwaite and Hall’s RPG predigree (Wizardry and Anachronox respectively), the duo surely have it in them.
