Borderlands 2 Dlc Borderlands 3 Leaked On Steam 1

Borderlands 2 DLC linking it to Borderlands 3 leaked on Steam

Just what were the vault hunters up to all this time?
This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

With E3 upon us, careless game store listings are leaking left and right. The most recent kerfuffle involves a DLC for the now 7 years old Borderlands 2 that would link it to the upcoming Borderlands 3.

The free DLC is called Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith & The Fight for Sanctuary. Interestingly enough for a game most concerned with the endless loot treadmill, it will provide a narrative connection to Borderlands 3 for those who are really invested in the plot of the series.

The DLC listing was first spotted by Twitter user @RobotBrush, but the store page has already been pulled. The only thing we have left is the banner.

Let me refresh your memory

Lilith, as you may know, was a playable character in the original Borderlands game. She is a Siren, which means she uses her weird psi powers. In Borderlands 2, you first ran into Lilith while helping her deal with a psycho cult worshipping her as a Phoenix-like figure. Maya was the Siren who took her place in the new player roster.

Sanctuary was a player hub in the second game, a city protected by Roland’s (another returning face) Crimson Raiders, corporate-mercenaries-turned-freedom fighters. It was an OK spot for a hub, if not entirely memorable.

While it’s pure conjecture at this point, Borderlands 2: Commander Lilith & The Fight for Sanctuary will likely set your Vault Hunter character to help Lilith protect Sanctuary… or the new ship bearing that name, which will be the hub for the planet-hopping adventures of Borderlands 3.

I bet at least several of our readers have had hands-on experience with Borderlands 2 and are eagerly awaiting Borderlands 3. Until then, check out our recent preview of the game here or go for a more detailed retelling of a scuffle with one of the game’s earliest bosses here.
