Bohemia Interactive, the fellows behind military sim ArmA II, are ditching the guns and taking up blades. Helicopter blades, that is – with PC chopper sim Take On Helicopters.
Now, I’m a little nervous about this, because I remember an AI guy named Maddox in ArmA II who used to enjoy flying his helicopter into the ground instead of performing simple pick-ups. It seems we’ll be the ones flying the choppers in Take On Helicopters though, so at least any crashes will be all our fault.
There’s a bit of a backstory to the game, casting players as the son of an unsuccessful aviation business owner. By helping your dad “take on contracts and competitors,” you can perhaps get the company back on track.
Both competitive and co-op multiplayer modes are promised, as is a mission editor which will ship with the game when it’s released sometime in the fourth quarter of 2011.
