Back in 2013, before Blackbird Interactive teamed up with Gearbox and changed the name to Homeworld: Shipbreakers and then Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, they opened beta sign-ups for Hardware: Shipbreakers. They also offered the Prospectors’ Guide which was an always-updated version of a digital manual and a guide to life on planet LM-27.

That was a long time ago but Blackbird has now sent out emails to all backers who must now claim a free copy of Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak before it releases on 20 January. The mail reads:

BBI is keen to offer our appreciation for the amazing faith you showed in our company three years ago. As such, and as a thank you to our core fans, we are making good on our promise to all Prospectors’ Guide investors to receive a free copy of Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak.

This is a unique and free offer to you, as a Prospectors’ Guide investor

To claim your free copy of Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, please click the email link below and confirm we have the correct name and email address to send you your exclusive Steam key.

Once confirmed, BBI will send you your key on or around January 20, 2016. If you have any follow-up questions please email us directly at [email protected].

If anyone backed the concept early on then now is the time to claim your free game.

Thanks to Anders Duus for sending that in.
