As the gaming world was flooded with The Game Awards announcements yesterday, some reveals went a little under the radar. It’s not often that happens for Call of Duty, but the season one trailer for Black Ops Cold War came and went. No matter though, because we’re here to break down all the content coming to Black Ops Cold War and Warzone next week.

After weeks of speculation, it’s finally been confirmed that Alcatraz is coming to Warzone. It’s had a bit of a Russian makeover over prior appearances, but the iconic map returns as a new Warzone battleground. Rebirth Island might be its new name, but the overhead layout looks very similar to that of the Black Ops 4 Blackout map.

Warzone is being expanded further still. Treyarch has been talking about the big merge of Warzone with Black Ops Cold War, and its finally coming. Weapons, loadouts and new operators are all coming to Warzone from Black Ops Cold War, as the battle royale almost doubles its content count. The Gulag is getting a makeover too, so those down-but-not-out 1v1 matches will look a little different come December 16.

Gunfight returns

Developer Treyarch isn’t ignoring core multiplayer though, far from it. 2v2 Gunfight mode from Modern Warfare ’19 returns, bringing four new maps along with it: U-Bahn, ICBM, KGB and Game Show. Existing multiplayer modes are also being expanded with three “new” 6v6 maps and a Fireteam map that arrives mid-season. We say “new,” because Black Ops 2 map Raid and Nuketown ’84 Holiday edition join the only brand new 6v6 map: The Pines.

Black Ops Cold War season one

The new multiplayer content does expand beyond maps though. The Prop Hunt game mode returns at the start season one, with the new Dropkick mode arriving mid-season. A new Tactical Raft boat is also being added, alongside the H.A.R.P killstreak. To tie it all together, Black Ops Cold War is getting a season one battle pass, with the standard 100 tiers.

When it comes to the Zombies mode, things are a little more thin on the ground. Treyarch isn’t ready to deliver a new map yet, and all Zombies is getting in season one is two new game modes. Neither will be available at the start of the season either. Jingle Hells is a limited time mode that you’d expect to launch around Christmas, while Cranked will arrive sometime throughout season one.

Season one for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War arrives December 16.
