Call of Duty Black Ops 4 confirmed by Activision – Reveal event date set

This article is over 6 years old and may contain outdated information

It was obvious that a new BLOPS was incoming when Treyarch revealed they were working on the next COD but now we have confirmation that it is indeed Call of Duty Black Ops 4 this year.

Activision has not revealed anything about BLOPS 4 but details will be revealed on 17 May. We do know that the game will release on 12 October which is at least something. They do say that we should be prepared for “a game-changing experience” and it will “revolutionise the top-selling series in Call of Duty” which is of course just PR hype. We’ve heard a thousand times when a new COD is about to appear.

Also spotted by CharlieIntel is the ability to link a Call of Duty site account to Battle.Net which could indicate that the PC version of BLOPS 4 will be available via Battle.net like Destiny 2.

The BLOPS series has been fairly well received and the last one appeared way back in 2015. The Call of Duty series recovered with WWII last year following the disappointing Infinite Warfare in 2016 so there’s still plenty of fans wanting to play the annual shooter.

COD has been hugely popular on consoles but whether there’s a huge appetite for another BLOPS on PC remains to be seen. If this new one includes wardrobes I can get stuck in as I did in BLOPS 2 then it’s getting a 1/10.
