Black Myth Wukong optimized settings guide: Performance, Steam Deck, ray tracing, and more

Black Myth: Wukong is an incredibly demanding game that requires a beefy PC to run, but you don’t need to max everything out for the game to look good. Even with lowered graphical settings, Black Myth: Wukong is a visual feast. With our optimized settings, the game will look great and run even better.

If you have a high-end graphics card, then Black Myth: Wukong has a ton of premium features to take advantage of like ray tracing and “cinematic” graphical presets for all of its settings. With the help of upscaling and frame generation, you can get high framerates even with these settings enabled. Not everyone has an RTX 4090, though, so this guide will show you the best set of optimized settings for Black Myth: Wukong.

Best optimized Black Myth: Wukong settings

These are the best overall settings for Black Myth: Wukong. With these settings, the game will still look good, but some heavier features will be disabled to ensure a stable and high framerate.

This list of settings is mostly the same as the list of optimized settings, but ray tracing is enabled. Because Black Myth: Wukong uses ray tracing for shadows and reflections, you can lower those settings accordingly.

We don’t recommend dropping the Full Ray Tracing Level too low. If your graphics card can barely handle the low setting, it’s better to just disable ray tracing entirely and bump up other settings instead. On the other hand, the very high setting for ray tracing is gorgeous, but you need an RTX 4080 or 4090 to run it at high resolutions. Upscaling can help, but lowering the resolution scale too much can ruin the game’s visual output.

Running at 1280×800, the Steam Deck and Steam Deck OLED can handle Black Myth: Wukong with every graphical setting at low. With FSR Frame Generation, it can reach about 40 FPS on average. Without it, it manages 30 FPS. We recommend capping the game’s framerate at 30 FPS and enabling FSR Frame Generation. That way, you’ll get a stable 30 FPS with plenty of overhead.

Despite its hefty system requirements, Black Myth: Wukong can be enjoyed with a variety of hardware configurations as long as you don’t mind lowering the settings. The game looks great even on its lowest settings, and the real highlight is the stellar combat anyway.
