How to reach the Black Wind King

In Black Myth Wukong, certain bosses require you to stray from the main path in order to find them. Thankfully you won’t need to look anywhere special for the Black Wind King, as he is one of the main bosses of chapter 1. To reach him, you need to progress to the Black Wind Cave and reach the Cave Interior Incense Shrine.

Once you’re here, make sure you are rested and full of Gourds, then walk through the big doors in front of you to start the fight.

There are a few things you should bring into the fight that will help immensely with reducing damage as well as dealing damage. First, if you beat the secret boss of chapter 1, you should have gained your first vessel: the Fireproof Mantle. The Fireproof Mantle vessel helps significantly with reducing fire damage, and the Black Wind King uses his fire breath every now and then.

The Black Wind King is a very aggressive enemy but still provides an ample amount of damage time if you know when to attack. Throw on your Fireproof Mantle when needed and his fire breath is similar to Guangmou’s acid breath, so just dodge to the side and start attacking. With the distance given to him by his halberd spear weapon, he can poke and prod you endlessly.

Most of his attacks are fairly easy to dodge, but once you do enough damage he will go invisible and start floating around the area as a ball of floating black orbs. During this, he lunges at you across the arena and you must dodge this. You’ll know when he’s about to attack you in this mist form when he lets out a bright light and sound effect.

Depending on how far away he is, you don’t want to dodge immediately. Think of this attack as a projectile that takes a few seconds to reach you if you’re farther away. Take this into account and dodge accordingly before he hits you. At the end of this mechanic, he will create a wind AoE in the middle of the arena, returning to his corporeal form and allowing you to attack him again.

Additionally, using Guangmou as your spirit is great for dealing acid damage over time, eliminating the enemy’s health bar. Call upon Guangmou’s snakes at the beginning of the fight, and as long as the king doesn’t move around too much, he gets poisoned dealing damage over time.

Aside from this and using your Shapeshifting ability when available there isn’t a whole lot of cheese for this guy’s first boss fight. There is the potential to cancel his mist move by Immobilizing him, but we haven’t fully tested this so take this strat with a grain of salt.

But once you defeat him, he’ll challenge you to reach the top of the mountain where you’ll fight him once more (this time a bit furrier though). If you want to be ready to go for chapter 2, make sure you know the best skills to unlock in the early game.
