We already knew that Daum and Pearl Abyss’ incredible looking MMO Black Desert was coming to Europe and the US and today we finally have more details.
The game is coming sooner than you might have thought, early 2016 to be precise, and it’s getting a full western market makeover with changes to the game’s balancing, progression and monetization model.
Like Guild Wars, Black Desert will be a one-time purchase. There will be no subscriptions or typical free to play model. The game will be funded though the purchase vanity and convenience items which we hope will be like the successful Path of Exile model which has proved very popular.
“We are putting a lot of effort in the game’s Western localization,” said Daniel Loehr (AKA Belsazar), Project Manager at Daum Games, “We are localizing approximate 2.5 million words into English, German and French. Black Desert Online’s content and gameplay systems will be adjusted to accommodate Western players and our differentiating business model.”
A new site has launched today to get the hype train rolling and there’s a new teaser trailer for good measure. There’s not many MMOs that get me excited these days but if Pearl Abyss do manage to “rejuvenate the genre” as they claim then this will be worth your attention.
