Aaryn Flynn, the general manager of BioWare Edmonton and Montreal, has added his own blog post to those from Greg Zeschuk and Ray Muzyka (who left the company today). Flynn’s piece looks ahead to the future of BioWare and contains details about quite a few forthcoming and long-term projects that the developer is working on.
Cynical types may dub this “damage control” (perhaps with some justification), but it’s still handy to have a glimpse at what a company has in the works.
According to Flynn, Casey Hudson and the rest of the Mass Effect team have plans for “another full game”. No further details beyond that are given, but more immediate matters for the Mass Effect universe are confirmed in the same passage of text.
The much-rumoured ‘Omega DLC’ for Mass Effect 3 (that would see you, in some form or another, helping to take back the station with Aria T’Loak) is effectively confirmed for release “this Fall”, and Flynn’s phrasing suggests other single player releases will be on the way in the next six months. Likewise, “more multiplayer content” is promised as well.
In addition to that, Hudson and his team are said to be “putting together their vision for an all new game set in a fictional universe, built from the bottom-up with all new gaming technology”. It sounds like very early days on that particular project, so don’t expect to hear much more for a fair while.
