- Completing Act Goals.
- Fielding Experts.
- Events.
- Building specific improvements.
So to put it simply, to earn Prestige, make sure you’re advancing along these domains all the time. Don’t focus too many resources into one single domain, such as Military for example, when you could be multitasking and earning Prestige from many avenues.
Although you can earn Prestige in any manner you see fit, there are some factors and avenues that are so much more important than others. Triumphs, Masterpieces, and Production Strength are only some of the more vital Prestige-earning factors you need to know about.
Allow me to walk you through the most important ways to earn Prestige in Ara: History Untold.
How Golden Ages work in Ara History Untold
Golden Ages in Ara; History Untold are great ways to receive a temporary boost in Prestige, and if you’ve got very comfortable cities, then you’ll be popping them off rather frequently. Golden Ages last ten turns and during this time, any Prestige you earn will be boosted by 25%.
To earn a Golden Age, you need to garner 200 Golden Age Points. After a Golden Age has been triggered and ends, this meter resets.
Each City’s Quality of Life stats (Happiness, Health, Knowledge, Prosperity, and Security) get evaluated. The average level of each Quality of Life for your Cities will determine how many Golden Age Points you gain or lose.
This means you need to make sure every aspect of life for all of your Cities needs to be in good shape and better for you to advance to the next Golden Age as quickly as you can.
Note that some Nations have an easier time with Golden Ages. gain an intrinsic +1 Golden Age Point per turn, and some have longer-lasting Golden Ages.
It’s always a good idea to delay or time the completion of Act Goals and Triumphs for when a Golden Age is active for a great bonus of Prestige. This can be risky, as another Nation may beat you to it, but the payoff can be great.
So long as you’re keeping your Cities happy and healthy, you can prepare for great bursts of Prestige during the Golden Ages.
Keeping a high Quality of Life is its own challenge, however.
How to maintain a good Quality of Life in Ara History Untold
Maintaining a high Quality of Life has numerous benefits in Ara: History Untold, but for the sake of remaining on-topic, I’ll only be going over how to do it and its Prestige benefits.
The higher your average Quality of Life of all your Cities, the more Prestige you’ll gain per turn. It cannot be understated how powerful it is to have a solid Quality of Life rating.
Firstly, there are many factors that could temporarily or steadily reduce the Quality of Life in any particular City, such as:
- Events
- War Weariness
- Combat
- Food income
- City size
Generally, however, as your Cities get bigger, you’ll need to make sure you are keeping up with the demand for food and Quality of Life. You can do this in many ways, but the best method is to utilize Amenities.
When overwhelmed with everything going on in Ara: History Untold, it can be easy to overlook and neglect City Amenities, which are consumable goods. However, if you’re producing them faster than they’re being used, you can skyrocket the Quality of Life in your Cities and keep them high.
You can get this going right away by making the Great Hearths of every new City you settle produce Feasts. Make sure to accelerate production by spending two food every turn. This is an okay cost, as the Feasts gain your Cities an additional 5 food per turn. So not only are you making more food this way, but you’re providing +10 Happiness and +25 City Growth. Bargain.
As your Cities grow bigger, they’ll require stronger Amenities, although will also gain more Amenity slots. Make sure to keep on top of demand by producing and using stronger Amenities.
When researching, look for consumables unlocked with each technology. When hovering a mouse over an item, you’ll see its stats. If it’s a consumable, it’ll also be a section detailing the benefits gained by a City when used as an Amenity.
Amenities typically last for 10 turns, although can be as little as 4 turns. Upon selecting an Amenity to apply to the City, hover over it to see the Production and Consumption per turn. So long as it’s at least even, you can permanently benefit from a gain in the Quality of Life.
Setting up these chains will maintain a high Quality of Life, which will allow for frequent Golden Ages and a great deal of Prestige per turn. You can’t go wrong. Whilst you’re working on the Quality of Life, however, don’t neglect to focus on your Production Strength, which is arguably the most potent method of gaining Prestige.
How to achieve a great Production Strength in Ara History Untold
Production Strength does more than improve the crafting and building efficiency of your Cities in Ara: History Untold. It also gains you Prestige every turn. So the stronger your Production Strength, the more Prestige you’ll earn.
Each City has its own Production Strength, and it can be improved in the following ways:
- Positive Happiness bonus
- Paragons and Experts
- Dwellings
- Supplies
Bear in mind this does also grow naturally, although to keep ahead of the competition you must nurture its growth.
Keeping your Cities Happy with Amenities as previously discussed is a great way to increase Production Strength.
Building Dwellings (in the City Center for maximum benefit) is another thing to keep in mind as they buff your current Production Strength, meaning as you gain more from other means, your Dwellings will provide more and more City Production.
Finally, always make sure you’re checking all the Supplies for every Improvement you build. Some of them can affect City Production, such as the first Great Hearth supply slot. If you’re lacking a Supply, make sure to craft it as soon as possible.
Keeping on top of this won’t just mean that you’ll keep ahead of the competition and gain an outrageous amount of cumulative Prestige, but it’ll mean you can craft, build, and harvest quicker, which is a huge advantage.
How to complete Act Goals in Ara History Untold
Sure, maintaining a high Quality of Life and Production Strength nets you a solid steady rate of Prestige, but you also need to grab big bursts of Prestige when chances come your way.
Act Goals are tasks shared by all the players in Ara: History Untold, and range from being the first Nation to build something, or one of the first Nations to hit a certain threshold of population.
Act Goals will become available as Nations advance through the game, and the moment a Nation completes the goal they’ll be awarded the Prestige.
These must become priorities for your Nation, as they are doubly important. Not only do they gain you Prestige, but they deny other players from earning extra Prestige, too.
If you have a Golden Age coming up, it may be worthwhile to delay or plan the completion of the Act Goal for then to secure more Prestige upon completion. This is risky, though.
It’s much easier to aim for Act Goals requiring you to be the first to build something. If the Improvement isn’t available yet, then make researching it your next priority. If you don’t have the materials for it, hard assign all of your Workshops.
When acquiring the Act Goals, you make it much harder for your opponents to compete with you.
How to build Triumphs in Ara History Untold
Triumphs are one-off, expensive spectacles in Ara: History that are rather demanding but are very worth it. You’ll want to be quick with it, too, as only one can be built per game, so like Act Goals, building these nets your Prestige and other benefits whilst denying your opponents.
Triumphs must be researched, and they’re identifiable by their golden outline in the research menu.
Triumphs can only be built in completely free regions, no matter how big or small. To see which Triumphs you have available, find the “Triumphs” page when selecting “New Project” from the City queue.
Again, upon researching these, make sure to prioritize building them as fast as possible. The only challenge you may face when building Triumphs is if they require a resource you don’t have access to yet. Trading will come in handy here, so I hope you’ve got some good neighbors.
As you build more of them, you’ll keep pushing yourself up in the rankings in a metric no one will be able to outperform you in.
There is one more great source of Prestige that you should know about, however. Masterpieces.
How to make Masterpieces and Masterpiece Sets in Ara History Untold
Masterpieces and Masterpiece Sets are special items made by your Paragons at specific Improvements that gain you a great deal of Prestige and can be continuously produced.
Upon gaining your first Paragon, you must think carefully about where you place them. They could be attached to a Force or become an Advisor, but they can also be assigned to special Improvements to produce Masterpieces.
Each Paragon is able to produce a certain type of Masterpiece, out of the following:
- Books
- Music
- Paintings
- Statuary
- Textiles
Special Improvements will have a “Masterpiece Creation” tab when selected, which is where you can assign an appropriate Paragon to start producing Masterpieces. Before you know it, you’ll be popping off Masterpieces all the time, especially considering the Great Hearth everyone starts with can produce book Masterpieces.
You can view what special improvements you can assign a Paragon to in the Masterpieces menu (top right). You’ll also see your Masterpiece Sets there, too.
Every Masterpiece created will award you a nice chunk of Prestige and will be added to your Inventory (left of the Masterpieces menu). But the real value is in the Masterpiece Sets.
To form a Masterpiece Set, you must form one by assigning a specific combination of Masterpiece types to either a Museum, an Art Gallery, or an Opera House. Once you’ve built one of those improvements, you can display your Masterpieces together in sets for even more Prestige.
Instead of making your own, you can also take enemy Cities that have Masterpieces in them to steal them from that player.
That’s all there is to it with Masterpieces. Make sure any spare Paragons are working on something, and make sure to display your Masterpieces every chance you can.
Now that you know the best strategies for earning Prestige in Ara: History Untold, you can lead your Nation to greatness. Just make sure you’ve planned your research route to unlock the improvements that are needed.
