While the Horde Hunt event is live in Modern Warfare 3, your goal is to collect specific items like Skulls and Bones. You’ll want to do this quickly to get back to enjoying Fortune’s Keep, so here’s how.
Best way to farm Horde Hunt items in MW3 and MWZ
You can play Hordepoint to get a lot of Skulls and Bones quickly, but I recommend skipping Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer altogether and going straight to Modern Warfare Zombies. In Hordepoint, you get a lot of zombies, but only one featured zombie and your teammates can (and often will) steal your Skulls and other Horde Hunt items.
If you launch into Modern Warfare Zombies solo or with one friend, you’ll collect Horde Hunt items very quickly. I recommend doing an Escort Contract or calling in an exfil helicopter to farm zombies. If you’re solo, you’ll have all the Skulls, Bones, and other Horde Hunt items all to yourself.
Normal zombies drop Bones and armored zombies drop Skulls. You’ll have the best luck finding armored zombies when doing contracts. You can also brave the Tier 2 area, but if you do, be sure to have a Pack-a-Punched weapon or two.
Another reason why playing Modern Warfare Zombies is the best way to farm Horde Hunt items is when the featured zombie becomes the Hellhound and Mimic, you’ll find more and therefore get more of their items in MWZ. You can easily farm Hellhounds by starting and stalling Raid Weapon Stash Contracts. Mimics are a bit harder to find, but you’ll find one or two in Tier 2 Infested Strongholds.
Even if you don’t normally play Modern Warfare Zombies, you should hop into a game or two to farm Horde Hunt items. After successfully exfiling with what you need, you’ll get all the MW3 Horde Hunt rewards in no time.
