Best Destiny 2 Void Warlock build: PvP and PvE

Here's the best Void Warlock build in Destiny 2 Season of the Deep.

Void is an extremely fun and powerful subclass in Destiny 2, especially for Warlocks. In this guide, I’ll walk you through the best (and most fun) Void Warlock builds for PvP and PvE.

There are a lot of great PvE Void Warlock builds, and you’ve probably seen some of the best revolving around Void Grenades and Contraverse Hold, but this best PvE Void Warlock build will center on Void Souls and Briarbinds. Warlock PvP builds in general aren’t the strongest compared to other classes, but the best PvP Void Warlock isn’t bad and utilizes Ophidian Aspect.

Best PvE Void Warlock build in Destiny 2

As a Warlock main who loves using Void, this new PvE build has me excited to play any PvE mode. It’s extremely effective at add clear and dealing damage to bosses, and it’s one of the most fun Destiny 2 gameplay loops I’ve experienced in a while.

This best PvE Void Warlock build uses the new Briarbinds Exotic Arms, which you can get from Legend Lost Sectors, to create multiple Void Souls. These stay out for longer, deal more damage, and can be redeployed. In essence, you’ll be juggling two or three Void Souls which all work together to zap enemies of life.

Best PvE Void Warlock perks in Destiny 2 Season of the Witch

Season of the Witch doesn’t have great perks to elevate any individual subclasses, but the Void Elemental Orbs are fun. Also, they are a great way to get Special and Heavy ammo which is always needed in PvE.

  • Void/Strand Siphon Combo â€“ Combines Void and Strand Siphon mods into one.
  • Elemental Orbs â€“ Final blows with a Void weapon while using a Void subclass have a chance to spawn a Void Elemental Orb. Throwing the orb does damage and makes enemies Volatile.
  • Elemental Embrace â€“ Subclass elemental buffs grant you bonus recovery and damage resistance against combatant attacks of the matching element type.
  • Elemental Munitions â€“ Combatant final blows with Tangles or Elemental Orbs have a chance to drop Special or Heavy ammo.

With these perks, all you need to do is get Void weapon kills and throw Void Elemental Orbs at enemies. Defeat enemies with the Void Elemental Orb and you’ll have a chance to get extra Special and Heavy ammo.

Best PvE Void Warlock Aspects and Fragments

  • Aspects
    • Child of the Old Gods – Cast a Rift to create a Void Soul. When you damage a target with a weapon, your Void Soul flies to them and drains them, doing damage and weakening them. When a target is being drained, you are granted grenade and melee energy (if running healing rift) or health (if running empowering rift). Defeating a target who is being drained by your Void Soul grants class ability energy.
    • Feed the Void – Defeating a target with a Void ability activates Devour. While Devour is active, final blows restore health and extend Devour.
  • Fragments
    • Echo of Expulsion â€“ Void ability final blows cause targets to explode. +10 Intellect.
    • Echo of Harvest – Defeating weakened targets creates an Orb of Power and a Void Breach. -10 Intellect.
    • Echo of Starvation – Picking up a Void Breach or an Orb of Power grants Devour. -10 Recovery.
    • Echo of Vigilance – Defeating targets while your shields are depleted grants you a temporary Void overshield. -10 Recovery.

Child of the Old Gods is an essential Aspect for this build because it’s our only way to summon Void Souls. Feed the Void, along with the beautiful loop that Echo of Harvest and Echo of Starvation create, give us a constant source of Devour so we’ll basically never die.

Echo of Expulsion allows us to get even more bang for our buck as melee, grenade, and Void Soul kills will cause enemies to explode. The Void Souls weaken enemies, so anything defeated that’s being affected by a Void Soul gives you an Orb of Power and Void Breach. And if your shields are ever down, Echo of Vigilance is amazing as it gives you a Void overshield.

Best PvE Void Warlock Abilities

  • Super â€“ Nova Bomb: Vortex
  • Any jump you want
  • Any Rift you want
  • Melee â€“ Pocket Singularity
  • Grenade â€“ Vortex Grenade

There aren’t any necessary abilities for this PvE Void Warlock build. I recommend Nova Bomb: Vortex as it’s the best AoE Super and Vortex Grenade since it’s the best grenade.

The interesting thing about the Child of the Old Gods Aspect is that if you are running Healing Rift, your Void Soul will grant you grenade and melee energy. If you are running an Empowering Rift, your Void Soul will grant you health. Do what you wish, but I recommend Healing Rift.

Best PvE Void Warlock Exotic Armor, weapons, and mods

  • Exotic Armor
    • Briarbinds – Your Void Souls have a longer duration. They also gain escalating damage and durability as they defeat targets. You can retrieve Void Souls by interacting with them, allowing them to be redeployed.
  • Weapons
    • Any Void weapon, like Funnelweb or Graviton Lance.
  • Mods
    • Helmet – Two Harmonic Siphon, one Heavy Ammo Finder.
    • Arms – Two Bolstering Detonation, one Focusing Strike.
    • Chest – Any subclass damage reduction mod.
    • Legs – One Insulation, one Recuperation, one Void Weapon Surge.
    • Class Item – One Utility Kickstart, two Bomber

Now onto the fun stuff: Briarbinds! Briarbinds were introduced in Season of the Witch and they are an extremely fun and useful Exotic. With them, you’ll be able to create multiple Void Souls which linger for longer and deal more damage and you can recast them. Run around the battlefield hurling Void Souls and then catch and recast them. It’s very fun and very effective!

To keep the synergy going, I recommend using a Void weapon like Funnelweb or Graviton Lance. I use Funnelweb as I like to play up close and personal with this build, but use whatever Void build you like. Also, use a Regnant God Roll for add clear and a Rocket Launcher of your choosing for bosses.

For the helmet mods, use two Harmonic Siphon to get even more Orbs of Power with Void weapon kills and Heavy Ammo Finder to keep your Heavy weapon locked and loaded. Two Bolstering Detonation and one Focusing Strike are important for the arm mods so you get your class ability back as fast as possible.

The chest mods can be filled with any damage reduction mods you like; I recommend having one damage reduction mod of each element, so Arc Resistance, Solar Resistance, and Harmonic Resistance. For log mods, I recommend having one or two Insulation to get your class ability back quicker, Insulation to heal when you pick up Orbs of Power, and Void Weapon Surge to make your Void weapons hit harder since you’ll likely always have Armor Charge.

I recommend Utility Kickstart to, again, get your class ability back fast and two Bombers just because I love using grenades and these give you grenade energy when you use your class ability which will be all the time.

Best PvP Void Warlock build in Destiny 2

The best PvP Void Warlock build is simple. It’s nothing flashy; we’ll use Ophidian Aspect to have better readying and reloading and use the best Void Aspects, Fragments, abilities, and mods to make the most of this kit.

Best PvP Void Warlock seasonal perks in Destiny 2 Season of the Witch

  • Void/Strand Siphon Combo â€“ Combines Void and Strand Siphon mods into one.
  • Elemental Orbs â€“ Final blows with a Void weapon while using a Void subclass have a chance to spawn a Void Elemental Orb. Throwing the orb does damage and makes enemies Volatile.
  • Elemental Embrace â€“ Subclass elemental buffs grant you bonus recovery and damage resistance against combatant attacks of the matching element type.
  • Rapid-Fire Ranger â€“ Rapid precision hits against distant combatants weaken them for a short duration.

As is the case with PvE, the best PvP Void Warlock build doesn’t benefit much from the Season of the Witch perks. The only one that is absolutely necessary is Rapid-Fire Ranger as you can weaker enemies after hitting precision hits. Other than that, feel free to experiment with what’s available.

Best PvP Void Warlock Aspects and Fragments

  • Aspects
    • Chaos Accelerant â€“ Hold the grenade button to overcharge your grenade, making it deadlier and more effective. Pairs great with Vortex Grenade because it increase the size and duration of the vortex.
    • Child of the Old Gods â€“ Cast a Rift to create a Void Soul.
  • Fragments
    • Echo of Dilation â€“ While crouched, you sneak faster and gain enhanced radar. +10 Mobility and +10 Intellect.
    • Echo of Domineering â€“ After suppressing a target, you gain greatly enhanced mobility for a short duration, and your equipped weapon is reloaded from reserves. Defeating suppressed targets creates a Void Breach. +10 Discipline.
    • Echo of Vigilance â€“ Defeating targets while your shields are depleted grants you a temporary Void overshield. -10 Recovery.
    • Echo of Provision â€“ Damaging targets with grenades grants melee energy. -10 Strength.

Though we won’t be using it like we do in the PvE Void Warlock build, Child of the Old Gods is still an incredibly good Aspect for PvP. I’ve gotten tons of kills with Void Souls in PvP as they slow down enemies and are often ignored in the heat of battle. Chaos Accelerant is a better pick than Feed the Void because that’s less likely to proc in PvP and if you use any of the four grenade types, they get an upgrade.

In general, all the Fragments selected are great for PvP. Echo of Dilation helps if you want to camp out a spot, Echo of Domineering is great is you’re using the Suppression Grenade, Echo of Vigilance is amazing to keep you in the fight after a close call, and Echo of Provision helps you get your melee back faster after getting grenade damage.

If you don’t want to use Suppressor Grenade, pick Echo of Remnants as it’ll buff all four grenade types highlighted in the Chaos Accelerant Aspect. Switch it out with Echo of Domineering if you do go with Echo of Remnants.

Best PvP Void Warlock Abilities

  • Super â€“ Nova Warp
  • Any jump you want
  • Any Rift you want
  • Melee â€“ Pocket Singularity
  • Grenade â€“ Suppressor Grenade/Vortex Grenade

Since you usually only get to use your Super once in a PvP match, I recommend Nova Warp as it is a roaming Super that can net you a lot of kills. It has a high cooldown, but that doesn’t matter here.

In my opinion, the Suppressor Grenade is fantastic for PvP. It can be deployed easily, does a solid amount of damage to secure kills, and if it doesn’t get a kill, it suppresses enemies which keeps them from firing or using abilities. It also has a slightly lower cooldown.

However, I wouldn’t blame you for going with the tried and true Vortex Grenade, especially if you’re playing any kind of zone game mode. Vortex Grenade is great.

Best PvP Void Warlock Exotic Armor, weapons, and mods

  • Exotic Armor
    • Ophidian Aspect â€“ Weapons ready and reload very quickly. Provides a small benefit to the airborne effectiveness stat of all weapons.
  • Weapons
    • Any Void weapon, like Funnelweb or Graviton Lance.
  • Mods
    • Helmet â€“ One Kinetic Targeting, one Void Targeting.
    • Arms â€“ One Kinetic Loader, One Kinetic Dexterity
    • Chest â€“ One Melee Damage Resistance, one Sniper Damage Resistance.
    • Legs â€“ Two Void Holster, one Harmonic Scavenger
    • Class Item â€“ One Reaper, two Bomber

Ophidian Aspect is one of the best PvP Exotics for Warlocks regardless of subclass. Since Warlocks don’t have many amazing Exotics that help specific subclasses in PvP, we’ll use Ophidian Aspect for faster readying and reloading.

When it comes to weapons, Funnelweb is great in PvP as is Graviton Lance. Beyond those two weapons that synergize well with Void, you can use any weapon that you use to dominate PvP. This build isn’t reliant on a particular weapon, so get creative.

The helmet mods you want are Kinetic Targeting and Void Targeting to make the ADS speed, target acquisition, and accuracy of your weapons stronger. Kinetic Loader and Kinetic Dexterity or a subclass form of that to match the weapons you’re using will only help you to be an even faster reloader and readier.

Melee Damage Resistance and Sniper Damage Resistance are necessary perks to have for PvP. Void Holster or something similar to it gradually reloads that weapon which is great if you’re running a weapon combo you swap often like a Shotgun and Pulse Rifle. Use whatever Scavenger mod you select on your Special weapon if you’re using one to get bonus reserves upon picking up Special ammo.

Lastly, having one Reaper mod in your class item is really great to have a consistant source of Orbs of Power after using your class ability, and I like having two Bomber mods because getting my grenade back as soon as possible is a win.
