Those giant anti-Terminid sprays won’t activate themselves! Here is the best strategy for completing the Terminid Control System mission in Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2: How to complete the Terminid Control System mission
The Terminid bugs are a pest that will need extreme measures to eradicate, all in the name of democracy. Many soldiers are finding that the latest Major Order is giving them a lot of headaches due to the sheer amount of bugs that pop out of nowhere. They simply won’t allow the totally innocent and not extremely reckless Terminid Control System to be used to spray them to oblivion. That’s unacceptable. Let’s gather our intel and see what steps you need to take to complete this mission:
- Head to any of the planets of the Umlaut Sector:
- Erata Prime
- Fernir III
- Meridia
- Turing
- Complete Operations to eventually get the Activate Terminid Control System mission.
- Head to the central tower and press the button on the yellow panel.
- Activate Battery Silos 1, 2, and 3.
- Protect each Silo from the Terminids.
- Activate the yellow console to deploy the Termicide.
- Extract.
Sounds easy enough, right? Well, not quite. Terminids will appear in mass and will either destroy the Silos or even destroy you and your democratic party members. However, there are some things you can still do to prevent the Terminid pest from spreading and successfully conquer these planets in the name of everything good and safe – like extremely toxic gases, for example.
Helldivers 2: Best strategy for the Terminid Control System mission
Don’t activate all the Silos at once
When you activate one of the Silos, Terminids will appear out of nowhere to attack said Silo. Each of them will have a progress bar that indicates the percentage of its charge. However, if each Silo receives sustained damage for a while, its Status will change from Stable to Unstable, all the way to Critically Unstable. If more damage is done at that point, the progress bar will reset, and you will need to activate the Silo again. Activate one Silo at the time and protect it with everything you and your party members have.
Use sentries and turrets to defend your Silos
Since these bugs will surprise you from all sides, defense automation is what could mean the difference between success and utter failure. Set up both sentries and turrets around the Silo so that you can cover any blind spots that might appear when you are dealing with a certain area surrounding the Silo. This way, you won’t be surprised or flanked by any of these Terminids and will passively kill them through your deadly stratagems.
Refrain from using explosive damage around the Silos
What you might not realize is that all three of these Silos have their friendly-fire option turned on. This means that any type of explosive damage on your behalf – especially airstrikes – will contribute to the overall declining Status of the Silos. I recommend sticking to nonexplosive weapons and stratagems and, if you need to dispel a large amount of bugs with explosive damage, do it far from where the Silo is located. Otherwise, you will see yourself sabotaging your progress. And we all know that isn’t very democratic of you.
Besides the overall notion of not confronting this mission on your own – call some friends or even matchmake – follow the tips above so that you won’t suffer from the strength of hordes and hordes of Terminids.
