Strand is arguably the most unique element in Destiny 2, offering a savage blend of deadly offense and powerful movement options. If you’re new to Strand, you may be overwhelmed with all the choices, so let me show you the best Strand Fragments in Destiny 2, ranked.

What are Strand Fragments?
If you’ve just beaten the Lightfall Campaign and unlocked Strand for your favorite class, you may be unfamiliar with Fragments. Open your character menu and select the Strand Element to tinker with your abilities. Head to the Hall of Heroes on Neomuna and interact with the Pouka Pond to purchase Strand Fragments. These items are pricey and cost 200 Strand Meditations each.
You can earn Strand Meditations by completing activities on Neptune and can have four equipped at once. Although every class can access the same Strand Fragments, they each benefit from different ones. There’s some overlap, but here are my picks of the best Strand Fragments in Destiny 2 for each class.
Best Strand Fragments for Titan
These Fragments are powerful no matter what you’re using, but one of the strongest builds for the class is the Banner of War Titan. Check out our guide to learn more, but if you’ve seen Titan players murdering everything in sight with a sword, that’s what they use. These Fragments are ideal for Banner of War and everything in between.
- Thread of Transmutation
- Thread of Warding
- Thread of Generation
- Thread of Fury
Thread of Transmutation makes Final Blows create Strand Tangles as long as you have Woven Mail active. The prerequisite might sound awkward, but Thread of Warding gives us Woven Mail whenever we pick up a Power Orb, so it’ll often be active.
Shackle and Grapple Grenades are both incredible choices for Strand Titans. The Thread of Generation decreases their cooldown when you deal damage, and means you can use them much more often.
Finally, Thread of Fury grants melee energy when you hit a target with a Tangle. Our Thread of Warding/Transmutation combo ensures Tangles appear everywhere, so we will always get value from Thread of Fury.
Best Strand Fragments for Hunter
The Hunter class offers a playstyle with unrivaled mobility and style. The Fragments below grant huge buffs to your survivability and make it so your Grenades are always available when you need them the most. I recommend the Threaded Specter Aspect with these Fragments, but it’s not essential.
- Thread of Ascent
- Thread of Generation
- Thread of Warding
- Thread of Transmutation
The Thread of Ascent gives a +10 Mobility Stat bonus, which is always good on Hunters. Activating your grenade ability instantly reloads your equipped weapon, which is an immense DPS. This Fragment is versatile enough to fit in any build, and the handling boost is a welcome bonus.
Strand Grenades are fantastic whether you go for the mobility approach with Grapple or lock your opponents down with Shackle. No matter your choice, the Thread of Generation Fragment will generate Grenade energy as long as you’re dealing damage.
As with the Titan, I recommend the Thread of Warding for Woven Mail. The Survivability Woven Mail offers are too good to pass up, and Thread of Transmutation means we will have this buff active for extended periods.
Best Strand Fragments for Warlock
Threadling builds are popular for Warlocks, allowing the player to suspend helpless enemies from afar. The Weavewalk Aspect had its wings clipped early into Season 22, and although it’s useable, Mindspun Invocation and The Wanderer will likely serve you better.
- Thread of Evolution
- Thread of Generation
- Thread of Continuity
- Thread of Warding
Thread of Evolution offers a straight buff to Threadling Grenades and is a no-brainer for the build. We’re leaning heavily into Grenades, and the Thread of Evolution increases their damage by over 30%.
The Thread of Generation gives us Grenade energy as long as we deal damage and pairs nicely with the Thread of Evolution.
Our Aspects are geared toward suspending opponents, and the Thread of Continuity increases the duration of that status effect.
As with the other classes, Thread of Warding makes an appearance for Warlocks, too. The Woven Mail it grants is simply too good to pass up, offering great survivability whenever you grab a Power Orb.
