Would you play these games alone?

Boo! Who doesn’t love a good scare whether it’s Halloween or not? While I love the scariest day of the year, I find plenty of scares online.

And the perfect place for frights is Roblox. So, what kind of scary games are available on Roblox? Well, there’s a lot to explore. If we go by the types, you can try out murder mysteries, maze runners, social elimination, and many other types. So you can investigate mysterious disappearances, escape a maze as terrifying toys chase you, or dodge a killer in the dark.

If you’re not sure what to play, you can always start by exploring the most-played games or the ones that are trending. And, of course, my list will give you an idea of what to expect when you enter ‘horror’ in the search box.

Get Spooked: Top 15 Scary Roblox Games to Try Out

To keep the list inclusive, I have tried to include every kind of game to cater to different tastes. So take your pick — from weapon-wielding pigs to a frightening nanny, here are some of the best scary Roblox games to level up your Halloween.

1. Geisha

If you haven’t guessed it, Geisha is a Japanese term. And much like the term, the game derives inspiration from Japanese folklore and myths. The game has three parts, and each part offers a disturbing tale.

In one of the chapters, you role-play a character who comes home only to find their family missing. In another one, you are tormented by a yokai who has a disturbing laugh.

With that being said, Geisha does add its own creative touch to the folklore — so you can expect a twist in each story.

Try Geisha.

2. Judy

Judy — the name itself, for some reason, tells you that things are about to escalate real quick. As soon as you step into the game, Judy engulfs you in a rather unsettling premise and atmosphere.

You, as the player, are looking into the titular Judy’s mysterious disappearance. The plot takes place across three chapters, and the game also whisks you to locations like a scary theme park. As the events unfold, you put together a picture of what happened to Judy.

Unlike many games on the list, Judy features mature content — so you can expect some disturbing visuals.

Try Judy.

3. Dead Silence

Dead Silence is said to be one of the most popular scary games in Roblox. Its official description claims that it’s the “#1 Scariest game on Roblox,” and you’re about to see why.

To start with, the game has an intriguing plot, just like the movie it’s based on. The game revolves around the legend of Mary Shaw, a ventriloquist who was murdered. You step into a spooky sewer with your friends (it has co-op gameplay) and investigate the cases of missing people.

Unlike many titles that we have seen on the list so far, Dead Silence features the good old jump scares. Along with that, the game builds up a tense atmosphere that lingers long after you’ve stopped playing the game.

Try Dead Silence.

4. Apeirophobia

In simple terms, ‘Apeirophobia’ is the fear of infinite or endless things. And much like the name suggests, the game thrives on this very fear.

Apeirophobia creates a seemingly infinite environment and entraps you in it. You will find yourself meandering through endless hallways and opening doors that lead to nowhere. This is where the real game begins — you have to escape frightening creatures. But how will you escape when there seems to be no exit?

What makes Apeirophobia realistic and immersive are its sound and visual effects. While the game does not have many typical jump scares, it does have its own terrifying moments.

Try Apeirophobia.

5. Piggy

If you think that the cutesy, pink Peppa Pig cannot be scary, think twice. Because this Piggy is about to become the leading star of your nightmares. Piggy is not just your typical horror game with jump scares. In fact, it is a unique combination of a survival game and puzzles.

Players start by voting on maps, and then they vote on a mode. Once the round begins, players have to escape the map using keys and tools at their disposal. But things are not as simple. As you’re trying to escape, Piggy will chase you. Piggy’s goal is to unalive all the players, and the creature really comes for you.

Piggy was quite a hit, and the creators even made a sequel — Piggy: Book 2. If you like the premise and if you’re a Peppa Pig fan, you should check out both the games.

Try Piggy

6. The Mimic

The Mimic is yet another scary Roblox game that takes inspiration from Japanese legends and folklore. The game has four parts (known as ‘books’ in the game), and in each part, you will be chased by a different monster. The Mimic is rife with jump scares, atmospheric tension, and ghastly creatures.

The game offers both options — single-player or multi-player. Depending on how you want to explore the game, you can go alone or bring your friends.

Much like Judy, The Mimic does not shy away from including mature and gory content in the game — so do not be unassuming of its potential.

Try The Mimic.

7. Breaking Point

Breaking Point is the kind of game that draws you in but has a nasty surprise in store for you. The basic idea is that you have to eliminate other players to win. But the way the whole thing happens is a little disturbing.

The game has multiple modes — Breaking Point, Duck Duck Stab, Who Did It, and Duel Vote. Depending on the mode you choose, you might have to unalive other players secretly or publicly, gun them down, or slash them with a knife.

If you like a bit of elaborate gameplay, then you should definitely check out the Who Did It mode. A random player steps into the role of a murderer. When the lights go out, the murderer has to kill a player. When the lights come on again, the remaining players have to vote on who they think is the killer.

Try Breaking Point.

8. Poppy Playtime

Kids’ toys are usually harmless and cute — until they start to come alive and chase you down dark hallways. Poppy Playtime will remind you of every creepy-looking toy that you have ever owned.

You step into the toy factory you worked at a long time ago. But it’s not a pleasant reunion as you find out that everyone in the factory has vanished. And it does not help to know that there are angry, scary toys trying to hunt you down.

Poppy Playtime is best played with friends. You have to find that flower to solve this mystery and escape the factory.

Try Poppy Playtime.

9. Nanny

We cannot list out scary Roblox games without adding a survivor maze runner experience into it. Much like the name suggests, the game involves a scary nanny. The goal is rather simple — you have to dodge the evil nanny and dash towards the exit ASAP. However, you will be exploring a maze rife with jump scares when you try to find your way out.

Try Nanny.

10. Identity Fraud

Identity Fraud steps away from the stereotypical themes like ghosts, terrifying monsters, and urban legends. Instead, this game will instill a new (and a very real) fear of your… well, never mind, I’m not giving you any spoilers.

The game starts with almost no introduction and drops you straight into a conversation between a supposed “patient” and a “doctor.” From this, you come to know that the patient believes the authorities (including the doctor) are out to get them. Soon, the whole scene breaks into chaos, and the patient is being hunted down by authorities. If you like games with a strong plot, then Identity Fraud will appeal to you.

Try Identity Fraud.

11. Rainbow Friends

Don’t mistake Rainbow Friends for just a Five Nights at Freddy’s or Poppy’s Playtime clone. The game has horrors all its own. But it also recognizes, like those two games, that sometimes the worst horrors lie in the cutesy seemingly unexpecting. While the game may be called Rainbow Friends, there’s nothing friendly about these creatures. The Roblox game has spawned sequels and spin-offs, but I recommend going with the first installment.

Try Rainbow Friends.

12. DOORS

There’s nothing unsettling about a door, right? What about a closed door — one where you don’t know what’s on the other side? This game casts you inside a hotel full of monsters and other nasties, and you have to escape by, well, going through doors. Only you’re not quite sure what’s on the other side. Can you make it out alive?

Try Doors.

13. 3008

Like DOORS, 3008 certainly makes you feel the panic of being trapped. Only instead of a hotel, you’re trapped in an expansive furniture store. I’ve never been one for being scared of open spaces (small spaces are much more confining). However, 3008 knows how to pull out the frights. There’s nothing worse than seeing a monster in the distance growing closer and closer.

Try 3008.

14. Specter 2

Specter 2 is a sequel to the Roblox Specter. Like the first installment, you and up to three buddies are paranormal investigators. Similar to something like Phasmophobia, you must try to hunt down ghosts. But the predator soon turns to prey. Don’t be surprised if you find the ghosts hunting after you instead.

Try Specter 2.

15. Grandma

Sometimes, home is the scariest thing there is. Grandma flips that idea of grandma’s house being warm and cozy on its head. Instead of being inviting, Grandma is filled with terrors, inviting players to try to figure out why their grandmother has disappeared.

Try Grandma.
