Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Best Chocobo Racing gear

It’s important to know that players won’t have access to all Chocobo racing gear from the start, and some require completing specific races, meeting certain merchants, etc. That said, in this guide, you will find the best Chocobo racing gear for beginners and for the endgame to accommodate where you may be in your FF7 Rebirth playthrough.

The absolute best Chocobo racing gear for beginners is the Saurian Armor Set. Saurian racing gear is available to the player from the start, although you must purchase each piece from a Tack Shop with the correct amount of Golden Plumes. Each piece of the set cost 4 Golden Plumes.

The Saurian Armor set doesn’t have the fastest speed, but it has high acceleration, arguably the most crucial stat for Chocobo Racing. This will allow you to get a good start at the beginning of the race and a nice speed boost while cornering. Speaking of cornering, the Saurian Armor is superb in that department.

  • Saurian Helm: 4 Golden Plumes from any Tack Shop.
  • Saurian Armor: 4 Golden Plumes from any Tack Shop.
  • Saurian Greaves: 4 Golden Plumes from any Tack Shop.

We have two sets for endgame racers to help you succeed in most races you take on. The Treasure Hunter Set and the Hyperions Armor Set are the best Chocobo Racing gear in the entire game. The former can be purchased from a Tack Shop once you reach the Gongaga region, and the latter is rewarded for completing Legend Races in Grade 2 at Chocobo Square in the Golden Saucer.

The Treasure Hunter Set has the most steady stats across the board, falling in the higher range for each category. This includes speed, cornering, acceleration, you name it.

The Hyperions Armor Set is similar, with each stat being great, but it focuses more on acceleration, strength, intelligence, and cornering. From my research, those stats mentioned are the highest in the game compared to any other Chocobo Racing gear.

  • Treasure Hunter Set: 3 Golden Plumes for each piece at the Tack Shop in Gongaga.
  • Hyperions Armor Set: Win Grade 2 Legend Races in Chocobo Square at the Golden Saucer. (Odin Straights, Alexander Siege, Phoenix Trial).
