Of course, you can go in blindly and feel your way around, but sometimes the freedom can seem overwhelming. Here are our recommendations for the best quests and areas to explore and in what order.

Dragon Age Inquisition: Best quest and area order

Alongside the main quest, DAI has side quests and things to complete in specific regions. These different regions can also have certain level requirements, so you want to make sure you’re at the right level before entering a new area.

Let’s go over the best quest order in Dragon Age Inquisition.

  1. Hinterlands, till you’re able to start “Champions of Just”/”In Hushed Whispers” main quests.
  2. West side of Hinterlands (levels 4-7).
  3. Val Royeaux (levels 4-6).
  4. The Storm Coast (levels 7-11).
  5. Finish off the Hinterlands (levels 7-12).
  6. The Fallow Mire (levels 8-15).
  7. Complete the main quest “In Your Heart Shall Burn.”
  8. Forbidden Oasis, easier quests/areas (levels 8-15).
  9. Crestwood (levels 10-14).
  10. The Western Approach (levels 10-14).
  11. Complete the main quests “Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts,” and “Here Lies the Abyss.”
  12. The Exalted Plains (levels 11-16).
  13. The Emerald Graves (levels 14-16).
  14. Emprise du Lion (levels 16-22).
  15. Finish off the Forbidden Oasis (levels 18-20).
  16. The Hissing Wastes (levels 19-23).
  17. Complete any side and main quests left.

When is the best time to complete the DAI DLC?

In regards to the three DLC packs, they don’t have any specific level requirements. That said, there is still a preferred way of completing these quests. While you can play Jaws of Hakkon and The Descent really in any order, you should definitely save Trespasser till the end, since it’s known to be the final “quest” you complete. We do recommend that you’re at least level 20, as this DLC can be a pain to finish under-leveled.
