Heavy Bullets

Getting those hordes of aliens and creatures defeated fast is one of the best ways to clear areas. This is why Heavy Bullets deserves to be one of the first upgrades to focus on.

Heavy Bullets increases your overall damage output by 4% with each upgrade. You’ll really start to see the difference once you level this up and notice that the enemies won’t be as much of a problem as they used to be.

Reload Speed

The thing I hate most in a run is when all of my weapons are reloading at the same time. I want to have bullets spraying at all times, so an easy way to help this happen is to upgrade Reload Speed.

As you can guess, Reload Speed increases the speed at which your guns can reload by 2% each time. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but once you upgrade it more (and add on Reload Speed upgrades during your runs), it’ll be a lot easier to keep your guns going.

Better Boots

When you’re exploring each floor, running faster than the enemies is the best way to avoid being hit. You should focus on the Better Boots permanent upgrade which increases your movement speed by 2% each time.

Two percent for each upgrade isn’t a lot, but you need to be able to run fast to get out of harm’s way and run to the ship after you beat the boss. Add that to the movement upgrades you can have during your run and you’ll be speedy in no time.

Mining 101

It’s pretty tough at the start of DRG:S to mine ores fast. Sure, getting through stone isn’t too difficult, but if you want the collect ore you should upgrade Mining 101.

This upgrade will increase your mining speed by 2% each time. Although you can get temporary upgrades for mining speed, permanently upgrading this ability should help you mine ore faster and get through stone and debris to get a Supply Pod easier.

Getting Fit

My biggest problem during the early stages of DRG:S is staying alive. This is why upgrading Getting Fit is a good idea since it’ll bump up your max HP by 10 each time.

Since getting back health during runs is pretty difficult, you want to slowly build up enough max HP to be able to tank a few hits. 10 HP with each upgrade is also pretty generous and will build up pretty fast.
