How to play Medium Class in The Finals

The Medium Class is extremely versatile and can be built for almost anything. You can fall into a support role with the Healing Beam and Defibrillator combo. If you want to get up close and personal with the objective, why not try the Guardian Turret and Mines? Those examples only scratch the surface of what the Medium Class is capable of, and you always have your trusty AKM Assault Rifle to fall back on.

The Team Player

This is the playstyle I recommend if you’re playing with randoms, as you can support them without talking. As the Team Player, you’ll always be ready to aid your squad with the Defibrillator and Healing Beam. For swift repositioning and map traversal, you’ll bring the Jump Pad and your choice of throwable. I’m loving the Gas Mine right now but use your favorites here.

The Turret Terror

If your team doesn’t need your assistance 100% of the time, why not try the Guardian Turret instead of the Healing Beam? The Turret has a ton of health and is fantastic for securing and protecting objectives. As we’re more objective-focused with this playstyle, the Explosive Mine is great for scoring a few cheeky kills. Once again, the Jump Pad is worth bringing along so you can get to objectives before your opponents and prepare a warm welcome for them.

The Cash Out Camper

If you want your opponents to seethe with rage, you’ll love this combination. Bring the Guardian Turret, the Sonar Grenade, and an explosive of your choice. It sucks being detected, and your opponents will usually panic and leap around so your team can capitalize. To lean into the camper playstyle, you have to go with the Model 1887 Shotgun.

Best

  • AKM

Other great options

  • FCAR
  • Model 1887

The AKM is one of the easiest weapons to use in The Finals as it’s effortless to control and has a decent-sized magazine. Although it’s the Medium Class default weapon, the AKM does a ton of damage and can blow most opponents out of the fight in a few well-placed shots.

The only downside of the AKM is that it doesn’t have an Optic, making tracking difficult. If this is a real sticking point for you, the FCAR may be a better choice as it’s got a scope. The FCAR doesn’t do as much damage as the AKM and kicks surprisingly hard. That said, it’s still a decent weapon and is excellent for longer-range engagements.

Finally, the Model 1887 has a deceptively decent range for a Shotgun and is well worth carrying in your reserve slot. Shotguns are inconsistent, and it’s something you’ll have to deal with, but rest assured, the Model 1887 punches holes through players.

Best Medium Gadgets in The Finals

Best

  • Jump Pad

Other great options

  • Defibrillator
  • Sonar Grenade

The Jump Pad is an excellent mobility tool, allowing easy rooftop access. You can also use the Jump Pad if you’re being chased, as you can quickly throw it down by your feet to reposition or disengage entirely. This Gadget has so many applications I can’t imagine not bringing it as a staple of the Medium Class.

The Defibrillator pairs nicely with the Healing Beam. This Gadget brings your teammates back with reduced health, so be ready to swap to your Beam to top them up. Beware that the Defibrillator is far less helpful if you can’t restore your teammates’ health.

Although explosives are always decent, I find myself bringing Sonar Grenades far more often. I slept on this Gadget for the longest time, but it offers such a massive advantage while defending an objective. You can score a few cheeky kills with lethal equipment, but the Sonar Grenade just needs to exist to put your opponents on the back foot.

Best Medium Specializations in The Finals

Best

  • Healing Beam

Other great options

  • Guardian Turret

The Medium class is spoiled for choice with Specializations, and each is viable. I rate the Healing Beam the highest as it’s fantastic for team play and can be the deciding factor in team fights. As I play solo most of the time, I always have an impact with this Specialization, even alongside unorganized teammates.

My heart sinks when I find turrets near objectives, and I know whoever put them there is probably giggling around a corner somewhere. If you want to unleash that misery on your opponents, the Guardian Turret is the way to do it. In my experience, giving up the Healing Beam is a big deal if I solo queue, but there’s no denying how powerful and oppressive the Guardian Turret can be.

That wraps up my crash course for the Medium Class in The Finals. One of the best things about this game is how viable most of the Weapons and Gadgets are. While I’ve not recommended things like the Pyro or Goo Grenades, they are great in the right situations. Use the advice above to get you started, but I urge you to experiment and come up with a combination that works for you.
