Best guns in Helldivers 2

More guns, more funs.

Guns, guns, and more guns is the name of the game in Helldivers 2, and you want to know you’re picking the best of the best. When spending hard-earned medals and resources in Helldivers 2, you need a goal to ensure you’re not wasting them. Here are the guns that I think you should be working towards.

The best guns for all situations in Helldivers 2

Not all guns are created equal, but neither are all situations. The wide selection of guns, I feel, is well suited to the many different game types in Helldivers 2. I don’t think there is a ‘best gun’, but I do think there are best guns for certain situations. There is also the worst gun, but I’ll get to that.

Best all-rounder

AR23-E Explosive Liberator

This gun can only be purchased through the Battle Pass for 20 War Bonds, but it has been on my hip for more levels than any other weapon. It may not be the most powerful gun in the game, and it may not be the fastest firing or most accurate, but it does some serious damage when used well.

What really makes it stand out to me is the consistent damage combined with the deep well of ammo and solid knockback. The accuracy is good enough to be able to pick out weak points on everything up to mid-sized enemies. I found I was able to fall back on my AR23-E Explosive when all else failed, and it would keep me in the game. All its plus points aside, this is one of the best guns in Helldivers 2, just for how it sounds and feels. The gun slaps.

Big Bug Blaster

Recoilless Rifle

Faced with a Titan, Tank, or Hulk, you’re going to need a weapon that can put a hole in the moon. Your regular arms simply won’t cut it, and when your stratagems are all out, it’s all you have. You will have to call in the big guns. For me, the best big gun for the monsters of Helldivers 2 has to be the Recoilless Rifle.

It may not have the absolute devastation of the Spear, but for a quick call-in, early weapon, it can’t be matched. If you’re looking to obliterate the armor of anything bigger than a Charger, get the Recoilless rifle called in, and fire away. This gun is best used with two Helldivers; one for the ammo reloads and one for the gun. You can load it yourself, but having a teammate with the backpack will drastically reduce reload time and let you get a lot of shots off. It also feels totally awesome to be a two-man Titan-killing team.

Best sidearm in Helldivers 2

P-19 Redeemer

Put your revolvers and pistols away; there’s only one belle of this ball. The P-19 Redeemer has absolutely no business being as good as it is as a gun in Helldivers 2. This is the perfect sidearm for when your primary has run dry, your heavy is empty, and you need a fallback that is going to punch a hole through the encroaching Bots.

The P-19 Redeemer sprays bullets like a firehose and they cause enough damage for long enough to get you out of some sticky situations. This has to be one of my favorite guns in Helldivers 2. It peppers everything in front of it with hell, sounds like a minigun, and makes a mess.

The best gun to absolutely never pick up in Helldivers 2

Get rid of the Arc Thrower. Send it back. It’s broken. I think I have had more team kills with that chain lightning gun than anything else. Even more than my Orbital 380MM HE Barrage, and that’s saying a lot. The chaining electric damage will somehow always find a friendly, no matter where they are. And no, it isn’t a user-skill issue.
