Best feats for Cleric in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

Clerics on top.

Whether you’re looking for the best feats for Shadowheart or your own custom-made Cleric, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s get right to it — here are the best Cleric feats in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Cleric feats

  1. War Caster – You gain an Advantage on Saving Throws to maintain Concentration on a spell. You can also use a reaction to cast Shocking Grasp at a target moving out of melee range.
  2. Shield Master – You gain a plus two bonus to Dexterity Saving Throws while wielding a shield. If a spell forces you to make a Dexterity Saving Throw, you can use a reaction to shield yourself and diminish the effect’s damage. On a failed Saving Throw, you only take half damage. No damage is taken on a successful Saving Throw.
  3. Spell Sniper – You learn a cantrip, and the number you need to roll a Critical Hit while attacking with a spell is reduced by one.
  4. Magic Initiate: Cleric – Learn two Cleric Cantrips and one Level One Cleric spell. All three of these spells use Wisdom as their Spellcasting Modifier.

The goal of the feats for Cleric is simple: keep your buffs up and reduce incoming damage. With that in mind, the other feats available don’t even register as viable options. You generally only get three feats as you play through BG3, so I recommend taking War Caster, Shield Master, and Spell Sniper in that order, and Magic Initiate: Cleric if you don’t like one of the above options.

War Caster

The most important thing for Clerics to do in Baldur’s Gate 3 is buff their team. Most buffs, like Bless, Shield of Faith, and Sanctuary, as well as a lot of debuffs and attacks like Hold Person and Spirit Guardians, require Concentration.

War Caster is the best feat for Cleric because they are less likely to lose Concentration. The Shocking Grasp Opportunity Attack is a nice bonus, but often might not be as good as a sturdy Cleric weapon.

Shield Master

Having a shield equipped at all times is easy for Clerics and something I recommend doing to up your AC. To take your protection even further, Shield Master is a must. Clerics need to stay alive so that they continue supporting their team, which is why you should take Shield Master.

Spell Sniper

Just because you’re a Cleric doesn’t mean you can’t play offensively. Spell Sniper is amazing because it lowers your chance to Crit by one, making it so your window of dealing high damage is bigger.

Magic Initiate: Cleric

If you don’t like one of the feats above, you can’t go wrong with Magic Initiate: Cleric. This feat gives you two more Cleric Cantrips and one more Level One Cleric spell. When making your decision for which Cantrips and spells to pick up as a Cleric, you’ll ultimately leave out a few great ones. This feat allows you to scoop up what you missed to make you even more versatile on and off the battlefield.

Now you know the best feats for Clerics in Baldur’s Gate 3, but learning the best Cleric subclass is an entirely different beast. There’s no wrong answer, but there are some that are better than others.
